Bandages

I could bleed easily for you
given the right motive;
if you hand me the knife
and tell me where to slice.

Press the button on the switchblade,
go to the bathroom and retrieve my razors,
hunt in the kitchen for the sharpest edge
and present them at the edge of my bed;
but be ready with bandages and iodine,
get the ambulance on speed dial just in case
I cut too deep and this presentation of love,
this acting out of devotion to you,
becomes a tragedy, for tragedy
is always wrapped so close to love
in any play you write with my blood.
